Guaranteed to Improve Your Shooting

The PACT MKIV XP is the Ultimate Shooting Timer which is Guaranteed to Improve Your Shooting and help you beat your buddies, help you refine your loads to perfection , understand the trajectory of your ammunition and even entertain with feats of ultra high speed shooting . The MKIV XP, like all PACT products, is purpose built by shooters for shooters, made by us here in the USA and backed by a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee and Limited Lifetime Warrantee.

Why Do I Need A Shooting Timer?

Once you have mastered the basics of sight alignment and trigger control to the point that you control where you hit, the next step is learning to hit faster – a better shot can hit a given target faster then a less skilled shot. Would you consider practicing without a target? Of course not, because without a target you have know way to know where you are hitting, you have no feed back, you're just be flinging lead at the side of the hill – fun, but you’re not learning anything. Conversely, with a fresh target you know exactly where each shot hits, and you relate that hit to what you were doing in your shooting process – improving your skill in the process.

By the same token, without a shooting timer you have no idea how long a given shot is taking you. No idea of whether or not a given technique is helping or hurting you. Why? Because we humans have a lousy sense time passing, what might feel fast turns out to be shaky and slow, and what might feel slow turns out to be smooth and fast with no wasted movement  - high speed hitting.

The PACT MKIV XP is the fifth generation of Championship training timers from PACT, the company that invented the modern shooting timer in 1982. Its software has been carefully revised and refined over the years to allow it to act as your shooting coach, helping you learn to hit faster and simulate complex courses of fire.

"Twenty years ago, when PACT introduced their first timer I said 'the PACT Championship Timer is the only timer you will ever need.' Over the years PACT's timers helped teach us what works (and what doesn't) as well as keeping things honest at matches. Not only is the new MKIV unquestionably the finest shooting timer ever made its chronograph and trajectory functions are second to none. I never go to the range without my PACT MKIV and neither should you." Robby Leatham

Advanced Display

The PACT MKIV cominicates with you by sound and through its advanced 32 character alpha numeric display, instead of the tiny seven segment wristwatch display commonly found on other timers and cheap MP3 players (sorry guys, but facts are facts). This display allows the MKIV to clearly display all of the information about a given shot (shot number, split time, total time) at a glance, without having to mess around with the timer.

The added benefit of this type of display is that it's "free form." We can display any combination of letters and numbers on it. This allows us to tune the information on the display to the to the activity you are engaged in. For example, if you have time limit for your string (PAR Time), the MKIV XP will automatically confirm the entered PAR time on the display and give you a count of Over Time shots as well as the times. In Chronograph Mode it  again reconfigures itself to give you the velocity data you are locking for in a straight forward manner.

A Buzzer You Can Hear

The buzzer used in almost all the small shooting timers sound OK standing around with your ears off, but they just aren't loud enough or low frequency enough to be ideal. Well we went on a quest to come up with a better buzzer, and after testing dozens of them over the course of a year we were not impressed - so we decided to make our own.

The custom buzzer on the MKIV XP is not only loud, obnoxiously so, but it is also user adjustable for frequency and volume - so you can turn it down for indoor practice. You will be pleased with the results.

A Real Keypad

If the only thing you are going to do with your shooting timer is use it to start a string and display your times, then the PACT Club Timer 3 is the way to go. On the other hand, if you are going to use your timer to train with, to improve your shooting skill, them a real keypad is a must. Why? Let’s say you are working on Standards and want a 1.5 second Time Limit. On your MKIVV simply press 1.5 SET. Hit go and the timer will beep to start you, and a again at 1.5 seconds. Want to change it to 2.5? Just hit 2.5 and SET. Without a real keypad, getting your data into your timer is about as much fun as programming a hotel alarm clock.

By combining our 32 Character Display with the full function keypad, we have minimized the hassle of telling your timer what to do – allowing you to focus on your shooting instead of jacking with the timer.

"I've trained exclusively with PACT timers for the last ten years. When I retired from shooting this summer I sold just about all of my equipment. One thing I just couldn't part with was my new PACT MKIV Championship Timer. It's just that good."
Brian Enos

A Timer To Train With

If you've never trained with a shooting timer, simply having the time of your last shot displayed will seem like a pretty neat deal. However, once you get rolling you'll find that you really want more from a timer.Image For example, let's say that you're practicing your El President’s (six reload six). You are mainly interested in your first shot, reload and total time. When you complete a run with the MKIV you glance at your timer and immediately see the first shot and total time displayed. It's automatic, no button pushing required. To get your reload time you'd simply press REVIEW, 7. The timer will jump to shot number seven and will automatically display the time of shot seven as well as the split time between the sixth and seventh shots - your reload time. It's not that you can't get this information out of other timers, it's just that you've got to endlessly pound buttons to do it. You end up concentrating on running the timer instead of improving you shooting.

"When I train I like to keep a detailed record of my performance. This allows me to make objective assessments of different techniques and equipment. My PACT Timers have been an absolutely critical part of my training regime for my entire shooting career and have been an important key to my success. The new PACT MKIV allows me to break my shooting down into bite size pieces. I wouldn't be without them." -Jerry Barnhart

After you look at your reload time, you find that it's taking a little longer than you'd like. You push the KEY button and tell the timer to give you a beep 1.5 seconds after the sixth shot. Now you go ahead and fire another El Presidente. The timer will perform as before until you fire your sixth shot. At that point a second internal clock will start and give you a beep 1.5 seconds later. The first few times you try it you find that the beep comes before you've got the magazine to the well. As you improve, you find that you're getting it seated by the beep. This is just one small example of how the MKIV Championship Timer acts like your own shooting coach to help you improve.

"I've been training with PACT Timers for years so I'm used to the best, but I must say that the new MKIV surprised me. It's really incredible that so many new useful features can be packed into such a small package. I've also been impressed with PACTs willingness to incorporate our suggestions into their timer. It's a truly outstanding product." Alan Fullford

Lots Of Brains

Like the Professional Chronograph XP, the MKIV also features our "Hot Key" user interface. However instead of steering you into the advanced chronograph features, the Hot KeyTM interface makes it super easy to access our exclusive advanced training features . In addition to these standard features, which are guaranteed to enhance your performance on everything from the Steel Challenge to the Bianchi Cup, we've added some new tricks. The MKIV includes a similar ballistic computer found in the Professional Chronograph at no extra cost! This will help you zero your gun to perfection (yes you can use it to help you bag Bambi). The MKIV also has a lead calculator , a rate of fire indicator for the buzz gun folks (and those of you who think you can whip Ed McGivern) and a new cadence function for dry fire practice. We have quadrupled the memory size to incorporate future software upgrades. What form will they take? You tell us!
